Spring 2009

Shawnee Link Equipment Donation

Internet service provide Shawnee Link donated networking equipment valued at more than $37,000 for use in the ISAT networking courses and preparations by the "Security Dawgs" - ISAT's competitive security team.

Thanks to so many, ISAT surpasses its Comprehensive Campaign Goal 4X!!

Although the final total is unofficial, ISAT received more than one million dollars in donations and gifts-in-kind during the Opportunity Through Excellence Comprehensive Campaign! The School worked hard to top its original goal of $222,000. Resources came in through several different initiatives.
  • Graduates and Advisory members of the School’s programs led the charge in soliciting the support of our alumni. Cash donations poured in to establish new scholarships.
  • Industry partnerships, such as that with State Farm, provided resources toOpportunity through excellence campaign logo establish and upgrade laboratory equipment.
  • The School hosted the 2007 Illinois Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition and local businesses and industry supported it fully. Gifts-in-kind from Core Security Technologies and Ipswitch not only added to the professionalism of the competition, it gave the School industry-leading network security software.
  • Finally, faculty and friends of the School responded to the Family Campaign initiative to create a faculty and program development fund.

In all, these efforts brought the ISAT campaign total to over $280,000!

ISAT Selected as a member of the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance (MDAA) Program

Dr. Stephen Shih has successfully landed a proposal that has helped garner SIUC membership in the Microsoft Dynamics Academic Alliance (MDAA) program and capture a substantial "gift in kind" (GIK) of software and technical support to SIUC's Microsoft Dynmaics Academic Alliance ProgramSchool of Information Systems and Applied Technologies within the College of Applied Sciences and Arts.  Only a small number of universities across the nation are selected as MDAA members.  With a fair market value of $725,773, the GIK received by SIUC includes an extensive collection of enterprise systems software packages: Microsoft Dynamics NAV, GP, and AX.
